Did you actually read thru all the posts to get the answer, outpost?

If you did, you didn't have to. You could have just visited http://dcboards.warnerbros.com/files/Forum21/HTML/002218.html , my comprehensive bob index. Just scroll down to Spirit and youd see it was mentioned in the first thread on 12/13, 1/8, and 1/9. Simple

Actually i don't think it is 'the nutbags' - could this be fallout from that 'lying in the gutter article.' Anyway i hope not and i hope TPTB at DC realise how much we as a significant part of their trades/archives audience value Bob taking the time to interact with us.

How many times has Bob said to nix the questions about trades about the current Legion, as well as the Superboy Archives, and several other things that certain posters seem to just keep picking at?

You know who you are.

No wonder he's gone, whiners.

Chill, folks.
Bob's usually appeared here on Mondays and Fridays, and somatimes lately on Wednesdays too.
Monday was a holiday, and Wednesday if he made to to work at all because of the blizzard, he was probably too busy.
I bet we see him here as usual tomorrow morning.

Y'know, it's times like this that I'm glad I'm living in California. This past week or so has been great. At times even too warm for a jacket! Except for a couple of days this week it's been all blue skies. Well you guys on the east coast enjoy your snow.

Yep.
We've got daffodils blooming in the front yard, and in back the cherry plum tree and the magnolia on our hillside are going off like soft pink explosives.
Sure is nice to live in a place where Spring comes in February...

I put in my time in Michigan, however--used to do comic shows all winter, skating down the Ohio Turnpike on black glare ice at 5 am to get there sometimes, and you folks back east have my sympathy.

In addition to the Green Arrow digest, the Warlord digest (DC SPECIAL DIGEST #10) would be a cool 100 Page Prestige book. The Deimos saga was edited from several issues into one long story.

The GA digest only had one Action story (the last one reprinted in that issue if I recall) following the B&B 85, GL 87 and maybe DC Super-Stars 17 origin among the stories from the 60s and 70s.

I have faith Bob will return! Just because he's not here every day doesn't mean he's gone into the Phantom Zone or something. Kneel before Bob!

Dunno about kneeling, but I bet that if at about 6 am tomorrow, Eastern Srandard Time, we all assume the full lotus position, facing New York, and chant Boooooooobbbbb...Booooooobbbbb..., etc., in our best approximation of Tibetan throat singing, he'll appear at some time during the day.

It's been a while since anybody asked about Legion or Superboy. In addition to those books there have been uncomfortable (at least to me reading them) questions/ demands for a statement from DC that there would be more GA fill in the blank volumes, loooong coments about missing content in Batman TPB's, outrage at the Dynamic Duo Credits, accusations of greed the HUSH HC and the recent firings. The only ones that looked unreasonably confrontational were the one guy bitching about HUSH and another guy bitching about Legion.

Full disclosure I asked about Legion Lost after Bob said there were no plans. I stopped after Bob said he couldn't discuss it.

Long story short, Bob didn't let the bad apples ruin the party before and I doubt that's happening now.

If it were me, the volume of posts would make me want to take a break.

Joe

I hope you're right, James, but everything was mostly back to normal in Manhattan on Tuesday, certainly by Wednesday - minimal commute troubles. Thursday is completely SOS here. My guess is that Bob may be taking some heat because of the mention in Rich Johnston's column on comicbookresources.com.

I really hope I'm wrong, though. Bob's tidbits and explanations were a great addition to the board.

Long Live the Archives!

I really don't think it's productive to psychoanalyze Bob's appearance or disappearance. He's a decent guy who does what he can. Paranoid delusions about it calls into question some people's intelligence. An insightful individual, I wrote such people off as psychopaths a long time ago. I suggest you all do the same.

Seriously! I have been away from the boards for a couple days and have been very disappointed at the tenor of many posts. Posting on this board is NOT Bob's job, not even close. Perspective, please! Good lord...the man doesn't appear for a few days and I hope by now everyone realizes how spoiled they are. It's clear some people have taken a nice gesture from someone and turned it into an expectation.

If i were bob, i would have gotten sick of everyone's egotistical rants of "will person x please stop ______"

Too many ppl here think they are holier than thou and can decide what can and cant be posted.

Many were unhappy about my arguments on a certain subject, saying this thread should be merely "questions", while bob himself has often concluded his posts with "on with the debate".

Bob himself later conceded i had made some good arguments, and that dc's stance on the topic may have been wrong and required further looking into.

But nooo, before bob even said those things everyone took it upon themselves to talk for bob and say bob just wants mindless questions, instead of intelligent arguments.

Those who said my posts were hard to read i can understand. Those who said my posts didnt belong on this thread b/c they werent some derivative of "whens character x archives vol y coming out", those i cant buy.

At the risk of stating the obvious, "on with the debate" means the debates we hold among ourselves. Bob has stated he derives both insight and gratification from the debates about the relative merits of X vs Y, the "true" starting point for "age" or "eras" of a character, and the historical merits of some collection of material vs. another. It is certainly NOT an invitation for anyone to debate Bob on DC policies, since it is unprofessional for Bob to discuss them. Expecting him to "debate" you demonstrates not only your ignorance, but your immaturity. One should ever be reminded that while the First Amendment protects your right to make an ass out of yourself, it was designed to protect our rights to ridicule you for it.

In the most patriotic of senses, please **** off.

D.

I think I remember Bob recently saying somthing about staying on until things start to get hostile. I think were getting to that point NOW. So please everybody calm down. Bob is a professional and if he was leaving this board, I'm sure he would tell us first.

Then again he could be dead. DC might then replace him like McCartney was replaced in the Beatles.

Apparently, DC has taken note of what's transpired on this thread because of a lack of Bob for a few days. They've just announced that the entire Archive schedule for 2004 will consist of nothing but 12 volumes of a new series, simply entitled, "The Bob Archives."

We have no one to blame but ourselves.

You know, it is quite possible, in all that bad weather, to just catch a bad cold. Lord knows, if I were sick, I wouldn't want to address serious topics on a message board. Tempers flare around here way too much when everyone is healthy and in full command of themselves.

Personally, I think this thread should be given a rest, maybe for a week, and then come back refreshed with intelligent questions.

There have been too many trivial, silly, and repetitive questions going round, and now it seems that some of us are arguing among ourselves.

So I vote we give this thread a rest....

Hello Bob and everybody else,

This is my first post at DC for at least a year, and that was largely because of what I felt was a lack of input from DC themselves. I have just discovered this thread, however, and I'm blown away by your honesty, Bob!
Thank you!
I have what feels like a decade worth of suggestions and ideas so I've carefully read all 50-odd pages of the 'questions for Bob' threads. Haven't said that, I do apologise if I bring up stuff that you've addressed before. I've also limited myself to FOUR questions (I cheat a bit with number four - sorry!) that I hope you can shed some light on:

Firstly, are there any plans for some of Peter Milligan's earlier work? I'm thinking in particular of 'The Extremist', which I believe to be one of both Peter's and Ted McEever's best efforts. It seems to be an ideal story for TPB format.

Second, will you ever collect 'The Girl Who Would Be Death'? I realize that Caitlin Kearnin hasn't been a huge success for Vertigo but this story, like the 'Extremist', is close to a best effort. It would probably stand up as a TPB...do you think?

Third: In my view some of the best Batman stories have disappeared into the dustbin of history, and these are from 'The Batman Adventures' and its predecessor titles. Granted, there have been some tpbs and the new Dini/Timm work is coming, but I think that a 'Best of Batman adventures', 'Best of Batman/Robin Adventures' would be fabulous (Kelly Puckett wrote what is still, in my view, the definitive Two Face story). With Batman's animated persona in the media spotlight again the timing could be right, and there are some real gems in amongst those stories.

Fourth: I notice that you've mentioned the schedule for Hellblazer a couple of times, but have not mentioned the Delano run. sadly, Hellblazer is certainly the most jarring and discontinuous collection that Dc has produced. I can certainly see that demand for a full reprint isn't there, but please finish the Dangerous Habits storyline, if only for the sake of continuity! I think that the better issues of Jamie's could also fill a bridging tpb to bring readers up to the Ennis run (incidentally, Jamie's one-off story immediately after Ennis' run is probably his best). Will you also be filling in the gaps in the Ennis run? What about the fabulous Eddie Cambell storyline? My last Hellblazer question concerns Warren Ellis' run; when his short HB stories are collected, is there any chance that 'Shoot' will make it into the collection?

Bob, I'm so sorry to bombard you with all these questions - I've been overwhelmed by your generosity! If you miss any of them I'll just ask them again later - just wanted to get the ideas down right now.
Thanks again, and cheers.

Dreamtime

Well it has been said before that the technology they have now isn't that great for reproducing someone like Lou Fine's artwork, so that cuts out The Ray, since his first stories were done by Fine. Also cuts out Doll Man [first art by Fine] and Black Condor [first art by Fine]

Phantom Lady might be possible, I honestly don't remember what Arthur Peddy's art looked like from the Police Comics #1 reprint but I don't remember it having the fine line work that, er, Lou Fine had. Dunno about Frank Borth or Rudy Palais who did the later strips. Of course PL only lasted 23 issues of Police, and at 6 pages that'd only be around 138~161 pages unless they included PL crossovers in other titles [or somehow the Fox PL stuff].

I suppose they could do the Human Bomb, I also don't remember much fine linework in Paul Gustavason's art. Of course with 58 issues at 6 pages each you'd probably need two volumes [348~406 pages]. I'd buy it, but beyond me I'm not sure if there's much of an audience for Roy Lincoln's adventures.
